My fore parents came from India in 1869 and they brought with them their profession (trade) which is tailoring.
They were established in Corentyne at Broomfield Village.
As my knowledge severed me my father Harold Bholaisingh well known tailor use to ride a bicycle and sell clothing house to house on the Corentyne Coast and on one of these trips he met a pretty young lady by the name Julia Drepaul at an estate Kilmarnock estate. They fell in love and they got married. After which they moved to Alness Village, where they established a tailoring Establishment. As tailor and seamstress out of Corentyne, Berbice, Harold and Julia Bholaisingh together have about 95 years experience in the sewing business. When they moved to Georgetown to set up shop Hermon was only seven years old.
His 40 years profession began with him having to liaison with the 21 tailors working for his parents and this was where it all started for him he had to “learn to hem and make buttonholes”.
The original property at Lot 13 Lombard Street was once a swamp. It was acquired in 1954 and its the Bholiasingh’s constructed the first fashionable, concrete building on Lombard Street in the 1960s.we spent many years at this location developing the business.
